Early to Rise Experience Day 2…

Sleepy

Sleepy

Waking Time: 4:15 am

How I Feel: A little headachey (It is too a word.)

I woke up on my own. Not because I felt really rested, but because “nature called.” 😀 I decided I’d go back to bed if I had to, for the headache’s sake.

I went to sleep late. And amazingly, I’m not that sleepy. But, when I’m this awake this early, I usually pay some way bodily, later. We will see.

People have asked why I’m doing this. Here are the motivators thus far:

A) Most super successful people get up earlier than the rest of the world.

B) I’m probably missing quality time with my hubby by going to bed and getting up at different times from him. since my time with him is so limited, this “feels” selfish, even if my body requires it. It also feels stubborn–maybe I’m being too rigid in this belief about being a night owl.

C) ETRE author, Andy Traub, states getting up early is a mature act. While I felt patronized by his writing tone, I now question my level of maturity! B lends credence to his argument!

D) I feel unfocused in all aspects of my life right now–that I’m reacting rather than being proactive. Maybe being proactive in getting up earlier will at least give me more planning time and allow me to feel less hassle daily.

Obviously, the things I’m verbally “vomiting” are somehow influencing my hubby. He sent me a link to a program that will force me to write a certain number of words each day. My writing and the time devoted to it has been anything but exemplary lately.

I’m happiest when writing and doing things for my family. So, getting up early and being forced to write some each day may help. But will I still be happy when I write if I’m forced to write?

Am I pursuing the right path if I have to be forced to write? Or is it that the pursuit of writing requires one to pursue focus, quiet time, pre-planning, and maturity? These questions might get answered if I pursue all of the above.

This is really boring to all of you, hunh? Well, what do you expect before 6 am for a night owl?

Friday’s Post: Hopefully…Day 3!

I am proud of you! Keep it up! Rob and I have more quality time now that he gets up early and goes to bed earlier. I find if I get up and just get everything done and out of the way, I have more time to relax with Rob in the evening. 🙂

This is interesting! I was NEVER a morning person until Riley was born. While she doesn’t get up extremely early, (usually between 6:15 and 6:45) she is 100% awake when she does get up! I was always the kind to drag myself out of bed and then continue lying around on the couch until I absolutely had to get moving. My parents are early risers and always enjoy their coffee time together on the backporch. Maybe with Riley’s help, I too will be a better morning person one day!
    Good luck!!!

When I CAN get myself up relatively early on the weekends, I’m usually greeted by the hubby with a warm hazelnut latte and we go on the back porch as well!

Kids will challenge us to change our ways, won’t they?
